it's about a lot of things... it's a made-up story based on what the author claims to be facts. a lot of it is what christians would consider blasphemous and heretic. i am a christian, but i read it and loved it. just depends on how you look at it

even the leaders are followers. DO's, CO's, elders, MS's... all take the lead in doing as told, repeating what they have heard. and yet they should be pillars of strength gained through research and training their consciences according to the bible. they are just good echo machines

freddie franz was 61 years old in 1920??? or am i reading that wrong? because if he was 61 in 1920, then he would have lived to about the age of 120... i think he died around 1980. maybe i should still be in bed... or at the meeting

i find it funny how you can count this time ONLY if you are a pioneer. why are there different rules for pioneers and non-pioneers. it makes me wish i was a jdub again just so i could attend these classes and count 25 hours in a month WHILE NOT PIONEERING!! it would really show my free-spirited independent attitude.

i remember, many years ago possibly at an assembly, hearing the story about a baptism (may have been a family being baptised).
upon being baptised, all members of the family cried both tears of joy (for the newly baptised's being anointed by god's spirit at that moment) and of sorrow (as they would never have everlasting life together in an earthly paradise).. is it urban legend?
did anyone else hear this?
ha if it did happen it must have been in the fall of 1935 just as the gates of heaven were being shut up by the watchtower.

Wouldn't any honest person realize that they could not possibly be objective in choosing to believe that God chose them? Wouldn't they be so afraid of getting it wrong, that they wouldn't want to even seriously entertain the thought, let alone proclaim it?
i have never looked at it that way before... but it seems that most prophets had to be discovered. it was usually their deeds or words that would impress other people and then the people would label them as such. or maybe im thinking about the messiah.
either way it's kind of like an insecure person bragging all the time. they have no talent or real substance, so they just keep talking about how great they are and how much stuff they have and all the things they're never going to do.

my family took me out to dinner for my birthday(69th) and it was really great.
i could feel the love they had for me.
it made me feel like i was appreciated and my life wasn't wasted.
i totally agree. why the hell shouldn't we celebrate another year of life, another year of being with people we love? it doesn't have to be extravagant, it doesn't have to be a gift-giving contest... it's just about getting together. this is one area i will argue tooth and nail over with any jdub at any time, in any location. just because it's not COMMANDED in the bible, doesn't make it wrong. just because two people got murdered on a particular day, doesn't make THE DAY wrong. it makes MURDER WRONG. murder is bad. death is not good. so lets celebrate our lives everyday... particularly on the anniversary of our birth
